| MATERIALS: 1 slab Masonite Several pounds of Marblex Various Grasses and Lichen CONSTRUCTION LOG 070224.16 The only thing done so far has been to choose the slab and mark out some foot prints for T-Rex. I needed something long and slender to match the big guy. This just about covers it. The basic idea is to cover the slab with a 1/2 in. of clay, plop some tracks behind him and sink his feet deepenough to help support his weight. Pull him out, do it all up and then glue him back in again. Since matching actual dinosaur flora would be exceptionally difficult, I'm skipping that and going for a muddy water bank looking area. Maybe some sand, most likely just clay though. 070608.02 I wrote all this before and apparently lost it in a computer hassle, so here's the abbreviated redux... Blobbed piles of white glue down on the slab. Poured sand and grass/lichen mix (left over from the Riverbed diorama) all over it. Pressed Rex's feet into the wet sand creating tracks. Threw in some rocks and minor twigs to suggest broken tree stumps. The glue dried in a couple days. Then glued Rex down to it. He's happy now. Perhaps I'll be more detailed later, just not going to be doing it now as I have just this moment discovered that the previous paragraphs of detail are gone. |
