I had the Marblex out for another kit. There was so little left that I wondered what I would do with it. After a quick look around, I spotted my baby Walker magnetized to it's plastic lid.
There was just enough marblex to fill the whole thing perfectly. I took the twisted plastic wrap that had kept the clay moist and mushed it intot he new surface as a texturing feature.
Within a few short days, all the clay will have dried and cracked along several major fault lines. A few days after that, I wil pull the dried clay out of the lid, pour CA all over the place and put the pieces back in. I don't knwo if I will keep the fault lines yet. I don't know the final look of the terrain. fault lines may work for dry desert or snow, even lava if I could rig the lights for it. It would not work so well for grasslands, beach/swamp front.
I like the lava idea. I would need a couple of the flicker leds such as are found in HO scale train sets. Maybe some steady red and amber could work too... I like this idea more and more! There is plenty of room under the plastic lid for wires and I can drill into the marblex where needed. Yah, yah, yah!
