T-Rex needed a buddy and Steg's are one of my top 10 Dinos'. Trouble is, I don't know if they were contemporaries. There could be a hundred million years between them.

Wasn't going to do any work on this guy, but sitting around this afternoon, I pulled out an x-acto and started cutting excess away.
Having learned about sagging vinyl with TRex, I also puttied up Stego's legs and much of the body got reinforcement as well. I will stuff the rest of the body with newspaper as I have read to do on other sites...
Sagging should not be as much of a prob with this guy as it was for Rex. Stego is short, squat and four-legged. Rex is entirely balanced on one foot and is extremely heavy.

Was only going to cut a couple of the bigger armor plates. Cut all but the smallest instead. Stuffed his body with dense and tight newspaper, even the stumpy legs got paper.
Glued the tail on first. Then it was LfRr around to LF Fr for the legs. Begant he plates from the largest, down. Test fitting all in a couple locations to ensure the correct one.
Next up is the last of the plates and spikes. Then a wash to get the newsprint off the body. Minor filling/sculpt Prime. Paint. Finish. Another week or two.

Did the last of the plates and horns last night. They went on easy. Need to wash the newsprint off and prime. Then comes minor putty work around the five seams.
Thinking browns and grays for this guy. Looking at the detail on the plates, it reminds me of carapace, such as horse hoof, tiger claws. I will paint along these lines.

Over the weeks, did some putty here and there, with more to do on the legs in particular. Some spots look great, others will need significant oversight.
Picked out the base for this guy. For the moment, he tends to live with the mechs on the riverbed.
Airbrushing this guy will be fun. Much more complex ideas for this than TRex.

Needs touch up putty on the leg seams and then final airbrushing.

As the last in the airbrush line, I ran out of thinner on this guy. I threw down some tan while I cleaned the airbrush. I'm not satisfied. I'm thinking of grays in a camouflage motif. That's the next round of airbrushing, some time of. He will yet again be the end of the line.

Wow! Seven months this guy's been sitting! Welp it's airbrushed and done. Just gotta shoot it some and post the results.
As I was brushing, I realized that I never cleaned the seams. They aren't too bad from a moderate distance, but are evident otherwise.
Maybe I'll address that someday. More likley just get a different dino and practice on that.
The paint job was a test run for fine control on the brush. I was going to make him mostly blue, but he wound up going camoflauge. Now I gotta make up Cretacious Swamp to match him.
