Made byTimeslip Creations. A few garage builders are filling in the complement of all the ships seen in
2001 ASO. This is second of the four nuclear platforms to be made.

Introduced a few months ago, I finally made good on my promise to get the kit. One other person at the ODEC has already built it. I may be the second on the board to get it. It's a straightforward build. Some nice details. I will review upon arrival.

It arrived yesterday. Nice pieces. There are two seams, running the length of each opposite side. They razored off easily enough. This should go smoothly. Need to black.

It was washed and mostly assembled this past weekend. It was black, silvered and then whited. This could be the final coat. It needs some styrene strips to hide some blemishes. That's about half the length of the US nuke, but as big around.

It was the final coat and it now sits waiting for me to tape it off and ab some panel tones on. I also wrote Timeslip for some replacements. I lost track of them over the last 4 months and he was glad to oblige. Great seller.
Just waiting for tape. And as I really wanna break down the ab setup and move on, this will act as impetus to do and hopefullly soon.

Taped it up friday night and airbrushed on saturday. Holding off a few days for paint to cure before doing more.
The red pinstripe tape left good behind. Big pain in the ass.
The blue tape pulled base paint revealing the silver undercoat. Looks great, but not in keeping with the subject matter. So it must be repaired.
Some overspray occured, some clean up needing one last taping pass. Glue fiddly bits on, make sure all is set. Done.

Wow. Two full months. I've been delaying paint cos I wanted to bring a few others up to airbrush status. I also didn't want to make a decision on what to do next on the paint. It was a mishmosh of good and bad. So I just baselined it back to the rustoleum white metal primer. That is, after I masked off aft of the center pinch. That had to be redone entirely as well.
Over the next few days, I'll mask the panels off and gray them up. Then, it's gluing the last bits on with the two flag decals.

Did a light gray round last night and a dark gray round tonight. Leaving only silver touches and the final doodad assembly. This part will be very delicate work. ALl the parts will get a basic white primer to set them off from the rest of the gray tones.
Over this long process, the body has gotten dinged up some. And in the future, this one will warrant a redo of some sort. I like it the way it is, but it is not space-pristine. However, the scrapes that reveal my silver primer layers happen to work great. This is exactly what I want to happen when I paint space ships. However, 'dings' are not in cahracter of the 2001:ASO universe where all is immacualte clean 'reality'.
