CONSTRUCTION LOG

080601
I did some very basic cutting yesterday and a prelim assembly.  Basically, this thing is creepy as all hell!

The tail is straight as compared to the box pic, so I may do some heating once the tail is fully assembled.  The body will be a difficult glue (both pieces of it), but Ihaven't done anything w/ the legs yet.

Assembled. Will detail later.

Spent the last month with the heatgun and its' tail.  Puttied yesterday and fully primed today.

I may have to do some surgery and brace the tail's new shape with metal. Looks great.  I think I will use it as my Halloween costume and send it to a friend for her Halloween collection.  She does the entire house and yard for any who drive by.  Then again, I may keep it at my cubicle on the wall..

Anyhow.

Over time, the tail keeps changing curl, so I'm not going to keep at it.

The other week I primed it up.

Last week I airbrushed the basic tones and used near an entire jar of peach before running out.  Gotta get more.

I'm going with darker base tones.  I will then go with a number of gloss coats.  I think there will then be several super thin white coats to give the whole piece a sense of translucence.  We'll see how that goes.

Geez! I hemmed and hawed over this for the last two months???

Well, two months ago I couldn't have done it the way I just did.  And apart from a couple black and blue bruises, it looks great.  I got a lot of subtly in the flesh.  Many many more hours and it could be great.  However, it is done.  If I use it for the Halloween party saturday, then it needs to air out fast.  I also need to bend the tail again.  It's gotten weak lately.  I should have filled it with light paper throughout.  At the time, I did not know about stuffing vinyl models.  It was a few weeks later.

New pix to come.
