LOG 080831.22 I'd forgotten I ordered this until a few mins ago... I started August by getting this and coincidentallly closed August by getting the 1969 release of the D-7. Cult TVMan's website said they would not charge the order until it shipped. Well, paypal charged it right then and tipped my bank balance negative. I was not happy. As this is the tin box edition, it will stay sealed indefinitely for eventual ebaying most likely. It is one of the few models I've bought with preservation strictly in mind. The long and twisted tale of AMT, ERTL, RC2 and now Round Two (with Polar LIghts, Aurora, Playing Mantis and Johnny LIghtning as side events) has been harrowing and I'm not even going to get into it here. Do your own research. You'lll need a map to keep track of it all. The upshot is that Round Two now owns the rights to all the previous star trek models. To kick things off, they are reissuing much of the Polar Lights line and some of the AMT/ERTL line. To celebrate this the original trek kit, they are issuing the 1701 with the original AMT art in two versions: standard cardboard box and this limited tin box edition. I will likely get at least one cardboard box version to build. I think the Republic is next in line for me. Also, the street says that this ship will be produced at 1/350 scale, ala' the PL 1/1000 concept of all three variants -Pilot #1, #2 and Series. Nice. 081222.22 Funnily enough, my local shop called me today to say they had two of these kits in, one regular and one tin box. A few moments ago, culttvman sent me a shipped notice. I should have it weds or next monday. |
