CONSTRUCTION LOG

080912.22
I was looking for R2, saw this ending today, swept in like an eagle from on high w/ one bid in the final five seconds and won it -delivered for under $15.  How could I go wrong?

I had one of these as a kid and loved it.  Don't remember how well I did on the build, but I do know I enjoyed this one more than the other original SW kits.  I just wish they did the regular TIE way back then instead of having to wait 30 years.  Well, that will be another story when I get to it.

This will likely go together very fast.  I do want to light it.  One red led in the cockpit and there may be some engine lights on it.  I will have to dig up reference.  I will also throw magnets into the body.  Beyond that, I'll know more when I am test fitting.  I'll write more when I get it.

There is an accuratization kit from SSM that they will be restocking.  It will be another ~$30 shipped.  It replaces the cockpit door, vader and chair, plus wing details.  Glad I got the kit so cheap as I did.  Suddenly, this is a $50 kit!

It should arrive today.

Watching SW the other day, I saw that the back walls of the cockpit have red stripe lights.  I may duplicate these with relfec tape utiliizing the red leds that will already be installed.

The outer back of the pod seems to have four lights, one at each squared corner.  It goes by in a few frames of one shot and this compression is not good.  I will have to consult resinilluminati's resources.

It arrived today as expected.  All the parts look present.  While the kit is on hold until the construction pipeline kicks in, I will likely do some lighting tests as those are coming up soon anyway.

I think two red leds and possibly one white split into 4 points on the aft pilot pod.  I need to get higher rez/pause image of the launch -the only time the rear is seen to any degree.

Just wondering if the SSM kit is worth it.  It is.  The newer parts are much nicer than those here.

Primed the interior parts black to help with light leaks.   A 9-volt battery will just barely fit up the rear pipe on this one.  Otherwise, I would have to go with a wall wart.

Looking at the film, there are 4 engine lights -amber or red.  There is one white bwhind Vader.  Each wall should have holes drilled with red leds behind each.  That could be 6.  400mA should do the trick.
