CONSTRUCTION LOG

Talked with Scott this evening and ordered my third of this kit.  While tentatively named 'The Dublin Bay', 'Montego' and 'Thunder' are serious contenders with 'Michael' running a distant third.

This build will be sans cargo modules.  I may be able to slice several single cargo modules from the spares I will have between this kit and the Monica.  In that case, I would have single untis being delivered/locked down by thruster pods of some sort to the freighter's frame.

One thing I've heard at various forums is that many folk would not paint their BB 'orange' because there is no rust in space.

What I would point out is that it could also be interpreted as bare steel straight out of the yard.  No skin.  No paint job. No chroming.  No flames or racing stripes down the side; stripped bare and on its' way to the junk heap when Khan sequestered it for his own nefarious needs.

In that light, orange is perfectly reasonable.  I will incorporate it into this paint job somewhere.  Whether the ship is finishing construction or under maintenence repairs, we'll see.

It should be here early next week.  I've learned a few tricks already to build this one better.  The two ships may swap names depending on how the bodies turn out.

Youtube to follow.

Cutting a youtube for the Santa Monica, I envisioned the paint process on this kit.  I went from green, white and gold for The Dublin to Bethlehem Steel/Great Lake Freighter Maroon and white.  WIth that she was christened the Thunder Bay.

I have a few freighter pix to reference.  Instead of Thunder Bay what about The Fitzgerald?  It breaks convention, but it could be a good storyline.  This one could also wreck in a solar storm out by the asteroids maybe.
