LOG 0631231.03 Holy crud! This thing is HUGE! Detail is very good to poor depending on which portion you're looking at this kit demands additional metalwork. I may consult with a jewelry maker that I know for help. Did some filing and drilling on the first day and got the pieces nice and close. I primed the kit earlier today. I went with a white base and immediately silver blotches (as compared to the gold blotches on gundum girl) began appearing. I halted all spraying and let it sit awhile. I went back with black and the same thing happened. Finally, I went with a designer gray and got the same, but not quite as bad. The blotches are actually pitting occurring in the resin surface itself. Is it because I didn't wash the resin first? I washed Spike and Faye and got no problems. I didn't wash Metal Gear Snake, however, I had no problems. I also didn't wash Santa girl, and had no problems. However, I didn't wash the pre-painted gundum girl and did get blotches (see gundum girl mockup China 01 for reference). I washed the rest of this kit before painting again with gray on the backside and await results. If okay I'll complete all of it in gray, then let it sit for a day and go pure white. I'm considering a silver base, than masking that off and going flesh. But perhaps flesh will be better first and waiting a long while and masking for silver. Also, I need to build a suit for her, based on Orantia's styling. 070101.15. I painted the backside gray without washing and it looked okay. I'll white her up on Wednesday -- 2 days to dry in case -if I've got the paint. 070105.20 I gave the backside two white coats. It was still tacky for hours later, so it's going to sit for a few more before I flip her over to the front side. 070106 The front side went alright with the white. I never wound up washing. However, I think that as several coats of paint had already gone down and dried, that these last coats of white couldn't penetrate the surface of the rest of the paint. From here on out, whether it's true or not, I'm washing all resin kits first. I never want this kind of thing to happen again. It totally ate up the surface. Fortunately, the primer is thick enough to help compensate. Nevertheless, a close look reveals distorted surface. 070629 I got a massive resin pipeline instituted the other daya nd threw this one in there as well. The only thing I did was some dremel work to the legs. I'm eliminating the high heels and I recut the left leg so it would angle a little less severely than it did previously. The other major surgery I'm considering is chopping the boobs off completely. The are to massive for the character that I have in mind. If so, then plopping some clay into the gap and sculpting new ones will obviously be necessary. This may just be the way to go no matter what. Regardless, any further changes are on indefinite hold as I contemplate the metal work necessary for the outfit. 071223.23 In going through the storage shelf, I re-boxed and re-arranged everything for a tighter fit. In opening this box, I made some snap decisions. Mainly, it was a matter of gluing both legs onto the body. In painting these other large figure kits, I've learned a few required steps of process. I filled in the gaps the next day with some of my last squadron putty. After a few more weeks, that would be cured well for proper shaping. |
