CONSTRUCTION LOG

081116.09
I printed screen grabs of the cockpit that I am sratch building.

I casually started the cockpit last night using scrap plastic.  They say to mockup w/ cardboard first and transfer the design to plastic.  But like ol' Jack Burton says, 'What the hell'.  It's scrap.  It's cheap.

As I get the shapes I need with these rough cuts, the'll be traced more nicely on nicer plastic.

I quickly  realized how much it is that the studio set never fits in the studio model.  This ship is no different.

My first idea on where the floor was totally blown away. The included door panel is 100% innaccurate and takes up important space.  So that piece is gone.  I have to ask Robert if it's cool to drill a doorway into the outer aft hull.

I want to keep the CM openable to show off the cockpit.  I first thought of a removable top.  However, there are no seams on the outside hull, so top and bottom must be sealed perfect.  That leaves the backside.  It looks like I can fit enough magnets to hold things together.  I need to see more of the ship before I do any serious mods.

Lighting will need several leds and hopefully an orange light sheet!  I am thinking of dual power sources -battery and wall.

Yesterday I took it all apart, versioned up a few pieces and cut a couple entirely new ones since the last video.  Added Part 02 A-d to the video log above.
